ELSIE CARRICK

the Sutton girl of this album

family details from research
by Liz Cook

Elsie was born on 8 March 1899 in Stoneferry.

On the 1939 Register she was living at 8 Lime Tree Villas, Sutton with her father Fred (a Mercantile Clerk) born 1868 and her mother Jane. They also lived at the same address on the 1911 Census.

Her father Fred was the son of Sutton joiner and wheelwright Thomas Carrick, born 1833 and living at No. 1 Stoneferry Lane, Sutton, on the 1881 Census. Fred was also brother to Arthur Carrick, born 1866, also a joiner and wheelwright of Sutton.

Elsie would only have been a girl of 15 years of age at the outbreak of WW1, and only 19 at the end of the war.

I don't suppose she could have anticipated that over 100 years later people would be so interested in her Album.

Thank goodness it survived.
